The
Method

The word Dance Movement Therapy (DMT) is made up of three inseparable words.

Dance, in its original meaning, is an art inextricably linked to life, to human reality, to the Polis; it is the real occurrence of a rite, it is first of all physical expression, since it is performed live through the body - voice, it is unrepeatable (like Theater, and unlike all other expressive languages), it conveys emotions rather than concepts. It is a viscerally communal art: this is the crucial point compared to today, since it is a substantial antidote to the absence of a community to which a society created regardless of our deepest needs condemns us.Maria Fux speaks of dance as an inalienable educational heritage.

Innovation

In the educational, training and therapeutic fields, the methodology used, based on an integration between art and science, focuses attention on movement both from a motor and functional point of view, and from an emotional, creative and artistic point of view.

The resulting synthesis helps to bridge the gap present in the culture of the body of contemporary societies  between aspects that are only apparently distant: the physiological point of view but also the psychological one, the person as a whole, and not only the mechanics of a body to be trained or corrected, the quality of the relationship that is established, and not only the aseptic offer of a service to users, the rigorous and methodical work, but also the technique of play and improvisation.

This perspective allows the integration of the emotional, cognitive, physical, social part of the person: through the creative process it is possible to experience transformation and change and achieve a greater awareness of one's resources.

DANCE TO LIVE METHOD implements, both in practice and in theory,   a research  aimed at promoting the Wellbeing of the Person, the Promotion of Health, the Quality of Life, through the facilitation of Processes of Evolution, Integration, Affectivity.

The interventions are adapted to the needs of the person, understood as the undisputed protagonist of one's personal path of well-being, educational or therapeutic.

The DANCE TO LIVE METHOD was born from over thirty years of experience in the field of dance, dance theater and dance therapy and has the peculiarity of integrating in a single program  aspects of a physical and physiological, emotional, symbolic and socio-cultural per  a simple and constant practice,   that  integral everyday life balance, such as Art, Creativity, Spirituality.

My story!

My name is Elena, I am 32 years old.
I’m a teacher, I love my work, my autonomy, my family, my friends, to read books and to dance.
Few years ago I felt bad. I started to suffer of fibromyalgia: my body, muscles and joins, were full of pain. Slowly I lost mobility: I was unable of moving head and shoulders, my legs became weak and I met asthenia and depression.
One day I read of a course of Dance Therapy in my town, so I met Simonetta and her method.

In individual session by her Studio I was trying to dance, but I was so afraid!
I’d never stopped to go: every session was a little better, till my body remembered the joy of dancing and moving.

After three months I was jumping again and I was full of energy and hope!
Now it is three years that I take part to dance therapy groups.

I don’t want to live without dancing anymore!
